It’s been pretty special to watch the career progression of young Devin Haney.

Still just 16 years old, Haney is looking to make the transition from amateur standout to budding professional but with nothing concrete lined up, he simply continues to sharpen his skills day after day.

What’s impressive about Haney has been his willingness to work with any and all comers in recent months during his sparring sessions as he frequents various gyms around the city, lately dividing his time between City Athletic Boxing and the Mayweather Boxing Club.

This past week, Haney put in some lively rounds with Venezuelan Angel Rodriguez, with is a very cagey junior lightweight prospect with a 12-1 record with 5 knockouts. The work between Haney and Rodriguez was sharp and fast-paced and at times it’s hard to believe that Haney is still just a kid putting in tough work with grown men and seasoned fighters.

With Floyd Mayweather Sr. guiding his career, Haney has a wealth of experience on his side. Check out the clip below for action from the sparring between Haney and Rodriguez as Floyd Sr. watches on.
