By all accounts, lightweight prospect Kenneth Sims Jr. (6-0, 2 KO’s) held his own and performed very well during his brief stint as a sparring partner for Manny Pacquiao ahead of the Filipino star’s May 2 decision loss to Floyd Mayweather.

There has been a never-ending list of views, opinions, and reports coming from Pacquiao’s side following his sixth professional loss, all of them revolving around the torn rotator cuff on his right shoulder.

Showtime Championship Boxing will play host to Wilder’s defense vs. Eric “Drummer Boy” Molina (23-2, 17 KO’s), as the 29-year old is still in the spotlight heavily following his title-winning victory vs. Bermane Stiverne on Jan. 17.

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao rematch in the works?

Will Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao fight again? (Photo: Naoki Fukuda)

05-4

By Vitali Shaposhnikov

After spending ludicrous amounts of money on the first Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight, and voicing mostly disappointment, would the fans be willing to do it all over again in hopes of the rematch being more entertaining?

Boxing is one thing, but Floyd vs. Manny is another. There are great matches happening virtually every week, with most not even being noticed. Even those fights that get the attention of international media as well as the top ranked TV networks, they are soon forgotten.

It takes a special kind of person to run a boxing gym and I’ve definitely come to appreciate the people inside of the Pound 4 Pound Gym out here in Las Vegas.

Ran by the Barrientes family, father Richard Sr. and son Richard, the gym has always kept a low key approach while still finding a way to play host to some of the city’s top emerging talents.

There has been no shortage of opinions or emotions that have come into play following Floyd Mayweather’s clear-cut unanimous decision victory over Manny Pacquiao on May in Las Vegas.

Mayweather fought his typical match that Saturday evening, nullifying Pacquiao’s attack as he cruised to a points win over 12.

There are surprises around every corner in boxing and last week I spotted a face I hadn’t seen for quite some time this past Thursday afternoon.

Inside of the Roy Jones Jr. Fight Academy in Vegas, I saw Tommy Summers, aka Tommy Smalls, monitoring the progress of 16-year old boxing star Devin “The Dream” Haney as he rigorously went through the rounds.

It’s been a pleasure watching the career progression of Dallas native Errol Spence Jr. from an up close perspective.

We first chopped up with Spence in January of 2013 following his 3rd professional match, a 1st round TKO over Nathan Butcher inside of the Hard Rock out here in Las Vegas, and he has since gone on to carve out an impressive 16-0 record with 13 knockouts in the welterweight class.

It’s true that a fighter’s record in the sport of boxing is not always indicative of his true worth.

Such is the case with Filipino pugilist Cameron Kreal, who was born in Hawaii and now calls Las Vegas home. Competing in the junior welterweight class, Krael’s 7-7-2 record with 1 stoppage victory doesn’t do justice to the boxing road he has embarked upon.

While it is impossible and unnecessary to ignore the opinions of dedicated Mayweather and Pacquiao fans about the conclusion of their bout, the insightful view of someone with more in-depth boxing experience adds a lot to the substance of the outcome of their fight.

Kenny Porter comes with a respectable amount of knowledge and experience when it comes to the sport of boxing, and in his interview with Hustle Boss’ Chris Robinson he talks about the fight, and what camp Pacquiao should have done afterwards.

The two men know each other very well from their amateur days in Ohio and it seems to be a great clash of styles given Porter’s calculated aggression and Broner’s overall skill set and pedigree.

Prior to the Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao matchup, there was a wide range of predictions regarding the fight labeled as the biggest sporting event in history.
