Brash Nottingham star Carl Froch is savoring the chance to lock horns with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. this Spring in Las Vegas.

Froch, 37, last saw action this past May when he stopped George Groves in the eighth round of a highly-anticipated rematch.

Throughout his 13-year career, Froch has thrilled fans by pitting himself against the best, but a high-profile Vegas showdown is something his resume lacks.

Chavez would present an intriguing opponent given his exciting style and marketability and Froch is hinting that the match is just about a go.

“We’re nearly there, dare I say it, with the Chavez fight in Vegas which I’ve talked about since knocking out Groves,” Froch told Sky Sports News HQ.

“I’m very optimistic that Eddie Hearn will be making an announcement very soon,” the 37-year old star added.

There seemed to be doubt that the fight would ever come off given Chavez’s ongoing promotional issues, but Froch seems truly optimistic at this point.

“That’s the fight that takes me to Las Vegas, it’s the fight I’ve been calling out for since November 2013,” Froch noted.
