The odds have been against the Los Angeles Lakers all season and now that they have made the playoffs, doubters remain.
According to a report from the Los Angeles Times on Friday, April 19, Las Vegas odds makers are giving the team a very slim chance of winning the 2013 NBA Playoffs.
It appears that the Lakers only have a 12% chance of even making it out of the first round against the San Antonio Spurs, who they meet this Sunday.
According to a report from Maggie Gray of Sport Illustrated on Wednesday, April 17, former College basketball standout Brittney Griner has come out with her sexuality as a young gay woman.
Griner spoke on why it is more acceptable for women to come out as a gay athlete as opposed to men in today’s society.
“I really couldn’t give an answer on why that’s so different,” said Griner. “Being one that’s out, it’s just being who you are. Don’t worry about what other people say, because they’re always going to say something, but if you’re just true to yourself, let that shine through. Don’t hide who you really are.”
Los Angeles Lakers’ star forward Kobe Bryant made a promise months ago that his team would make the playoffs.
On Wednesday night, April 17, the Lakers defeated the Houston Rockets 99-95 to clinch the seventh playoff spot in the Western conference.
Kobe Bryant later took to his twitter account to announce “Playoff promise fulfilled #ontothenext.”
Of course, Bryant is recovering from surgery following a torn Achilles and will not actively be playing when the Lakers meet the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs.

“I can’t walk, I put pressure on it and I can’t walk,” claimed the five-time NBA champion.

On Friday night, the Lakers were hosting the Golden State Warriors at the Staples Center and despite scoring a dramatic comeback victory, 118-116, the focus of the night went towards Bryant’s game-ending injury. While nothing has been confirmed, it is probable that Bryant has torn his Achilles.
Early Saturday morning, Bryant took to his personal Facebook page to vent about his frustration and vowed to return admist much uncertainty. Here’s what the five-time champion had to say.
