Still just 18 year s old, Damien “Sugar” Vasquez has already left an impression during his early run as a professional.

Having turned pro at the age of 16 in August of 2013 down in Cancun, Mexico, Vasquez presently stands at 8-0 with 3 knockouts as a professional. That run included him collecting and defending the NABF junior flyweight belt that he won in just his sixth pro bout.

Following his most recent bout, a six-round unanimous decision over Javier Lapizco this past October in Glendale, Ariz., there was much speculation as to the next move of the Colorado native.

Vasquez was tentatively lined up for a Feb. 6 return in his native Greeley, Colo. but ultimately passed on the opportunity. With so much excitement centered around his next move, Vasquez has decided to do perhaps the best thing for him at this stage.

Wait.

Presently training inside of the Pound 4 Pound Boxing Gym in Las Vegas, Vasquez continues to gel with his new trainer Nonito Donaire Sr. as he waits patiently on his next move.

“We’re ahead of the game,” Vasquez’s father Oscar pointed out, highlighting the fact that his son has already made the necessary moves to bolster his career to the point where it is at now.

Check below for some training highlights of Vasquez with Donaire Sr. and stay tuned for more word on his next ring outing.
