Puerto Rico’s Felix Trinidad is going against his country man Miguel Cotto
By Chris Robinson
One of the biggest and best fights that can and hopefully will be made is a high-stakes showdown between Miguel Cotto and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
There appears a strong possibility that the match will land in Las Vegas sometime in November, but nothing is final as of yet.
After speaking with various people in the boxing community about the matchup, people seem split as to who to pick, some favoring Cotto’s experience and others pointing towards Canelo’s various gifts.
In speaking with former three-division world champion and beloved Hall-of-Famer Felix “Tito” Trinidad, he is actually picking against his country man Cotto. Trinidad is beloved in his native Puerto Rico and while Cotto also has received great respect from people on the island, he has always shown a much more serious and subdued approach to things.
Trinidad feels Canelo will find a way to pull out the win and isn’t shy with his prediction.
“It’s going to be a very tough fight,” Trinidad stated from the 2015 Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. “It’s the same thing as what I’ve said before. Canelo has an edge because of his strength and youth.”
