While inside of City Athletic Boxing in Las Vegas earlier today, I crossed paths with Tommy Smalls, a man known best to some in boxing circles for his connection to the Mayweather Boxing Club a few years back.

Smalls is now working closely with top flight amateur prospect Devin Haney, who was also in the building finishing up a workout ahead of what he hopes to soon be a professional debut.

I asked Smalls about the fights this weekend in Las Vegas, as former IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter handily controlled Adrien Broner over 12 rounds outside of a scare in the final frame that saw him taste the canvas.

Smalls felt that Broner was going to emerge victorious and even put some money on the line.

“I bet $100,000 on on Broner because I thought he would win,” stated Smalls. “Next time I’ll be on Porter.”
