News in the sport of boxing always comes a fast pace and such has been the case with Floyd Mayweather’s imminent return to the ring.
Mayweather is eyeing a May 2 return, as Cinco De Mayo weekend has always been one of his favorite days to fight on. Who the world’s premiere fighter will be facing, however, is still uncertain.
While the boxing world and general public has been hanging on to hope that we will see Mayweather face off with Manny Pacquiao in 2015, those wishes may need to be put on hold.
Several industry insiders, including Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya, believe we will see Mayweather opt for a rematch with Miguel Cotto on the 5/2 date after hearing of the trouble of a Pacquiao matchup actually coming off.
“What I do believe is that Mayweather will be fighting Miguel Cotto on May 2,” stated De La Hoya in a report from Steve Kim of BoxingScene.com.
Not sure how the public would react to such a scenario. Stay tuned for more details.
