Was pleasantly surprised when I found out that former world champion Bryan “Tiquito” Vasquez has signed on to an exclusive agreement with Roy Jones Jr. Boxing Promotions.

On Thursday evening, inside of the Brio Tuscan Grille in Las Vegas, Vasquez made the announcement 100% official by signing the contract, with 10x world champion Roy Jones Jr. and the company’s CEO/Co-Founder Keith Veltre on hand during the announcement.

This is a tremendously significant signing for Jones and his team, as Vasquez is far from being just a prospect in this sport.

Carrying with him a 35-2 record with 19 knockouts, Vasquez has twice held the WBA interim championship at 130 pounds, known better to some as the junior lightweight division.

Vasquez’s only setbacks are to former world champions Takashi Uchiyama and Javier Fortuna, who he dropped a unanimous decision to in May of last year.

At 29 years of age, Vasquez is still in his prime and one of the top players at 130 pounds. The division also plays hosts to champions Vasyl Lomachenko, Francisco Vargas, Jason Sosa, and Jose Pedraza, as well as top contenders like Gervonta Davis and former champions Orlando Salido and Nicholas Walters.

Check below for more photos and stay tuned  for a video of Vasquez’s signing.
