On Friday afternoon, former junior lightweight champion Gervonta Davis and former featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa weighed in ahead of their SHOWTIME-televised main event, set for Saturday night from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA.
Davis is the heavy favorite heading into the contest, which will see the two men vying for the vacant WBA lightweight title. But things didn’t exactly go as expected, as the Baltimore native originally came in 136.25 pounds, over a pound over the lightweight limit. Gamboa weighed in at 134.5 pounds.
As the two men faced off, Davis shoved Gamboa, with a small melee almost ensuing. But nothing serious emerged, as we will see these two face off on Saturday. Davis would later return to make weight, coming in at 134.75 pounds.
