Anyone familiar with the brazen nature of trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. knows all too well he hasn’t been the biggest supporter of Manny Pacquiao in recent years.

That’s to be expected, of course, as the Filipino icon still serves as a rival to Mayweather Sr.’s son Floyd in some regards.

While there is still heavy uncertainty in the air, it seems very possible that we could be seeing a fifth fight between rivals Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez later this year.

Pacquiao is 2-1-1 in his series with Marquez but suffered a horrific knockout loss to the Mexico City legend during their fourth encounter.

And while the two men always make for great action, not everyone is backing another melee.

With his clear unanimous decision victory over Mike Alvarado this past weekend, Mexico City’s Juan Manuel Marquez showed that his fighting spirit is still very much up to par.

With the win, the 56th of his illustrious career, Marquez also paved the way for the possibility of facing off with his rival Manny Pacquiao for a fifth time later this year.

Marquez laid Pacquiao out for the count in their fourth encounter in December of 2012 and while he has seemed disinterested in another showdown with Manny, the intrigue of a fifth world title is still there.
