On Wednesday morning, Manny Pacquiao exuded a little bit of tranquility as he ran some laps with some members of his team at the UNLV track in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Following his run, Pacquiao put in some strength and conditioning work and will be hosting the final press conference for his rematch with Tim Bradley later today at the MGM Grand.

Pacquiao dropped a split-decision to Bradley in June of 2012 in controversial fashion and the eight-division world titlist has put in all of the hard work and will use the remainder of the week to likely pace himself as he inches closer to hopeful revenge.

Freddie Roach dismisses Tim Bradley’s bold proclamations: ‘Talk is talk; we’ll see you in the ring’

Speaking with Freddie Roach on Tuesday afternoon inside of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, it was easy to spot just how upbeat the six-time Trainer of the Year is heading into Manny Pacquiao’s April 12 rematch with Tim Bradley

Having trained Pacquiao for the better part of thirteen years, Roach was again able to get a perfect gauge on where his charge is with the match just days away.

“His discipline is very good,” Roach said, referencing his time observing Pacquiao both in his native General Santos City, Philippines as well as their final run in Los Angeles.

“His hunger,” Roach added. “I brought five sparring partners and they’re all giving me a little bit of what I want. I’m very happy where he’s at right now and I’m very anxious to get this guy out of our way.”

To say that there were some question marks surrounding Pacquiao after his brutal knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez in December of 2012 is an understatement.

So chilling was the shot that put Pacquiao out that many wondered how he would perform in the wake of his first loss in 7 years.

The eight-division titlist’s return victory against Brandon Rios this past November was all Roach needed to see in order to know that Pacquiao had fully returned.

“I believe in my fighter,” said Roach. “I have the best fighter in the world. People think that because he got knocked out, he’s done. He came back and he learned something from that fight. The Brandon Rios fight, I thought he fought a great fight.”

It’s never an easy task going up against Bradley, as the Palm Springs native’s blend of superb conditioning, skill, and determination is always going to take work to overcome.

Still, Roach was sharp when commenting on his plan of attack come Saturday.

“Activity,” Roach stated. “A lot of activity,”

Bradley, as is always the case, has been full of bravado heading into the fight, from questioning Pacquiao’s killer instinct to claiming that there is no possible way he will lose the match if the scorecards are read.

Roach is far from concerned, however.

“Talk is talk,” Roach claimed. “It doesn’t mean nothing. We’ll see you in the ring.”

Virgil Hunter still not sure whether Manny Pacquiao has fully recovered from his knockout loss to Marquez

It’s officially fight week in Las Vegas, as the boxing world eyes this weekend’s Manny Pacquiao vs. Tim Bradley rematch from the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The subplots have been well-documented and each man was said to have had an excellent training camp in anticipation of another high-stakes encounter.

Speaking with Oakland-based trainer Virgil Hunter about the matchup during a recent swing through Northern California, the low key coach can’t help but to be intrigued by the matchup.

“I think Pacquiao is going to have revenge on his mind,” Hunter stated boldly. “Bradley will have on his mind that ‘I fought you once and I know I can do better.’ With Pacquiao personally stating that he’s going to knock Tim out, that’s all the ingredients of a good, good fight.”

What Hunter does seem to question is whether or not Pacquiao has fully recovered from his devastating knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez in December of 2012.

“I believe a knockout of that caliber always serves notice to the recipient of that punch,” said Hunter of Pacquiao, who did return this past November to decision Brandon Rios over twelve rounds.

“It’s just no way around it,” Hunter added. “I think that that’s going to be a major factor in the fight but at the same time they probably don’t believe that Tim can land the punches back. I feel like they are going to be much more aggressive and I think that Tim realizes what he needs to do and I wouldn’t be surprised if he lets go of a couple punches with the intent of knocking Manny out.”

Hunter feels that Bradley’s past tests have more than prepared him enough for what he faces in another encounter with one of this generation’s finest pugilists.

“Timothy has proven to be a winner,” Hunter said with respect. “And that sums it up right there. He’s probably been written off in four to five fights that he proved the critics wrong. I think he’s in a good position going on that moment and he seems to be real jacked about this upcoming bout and I think he’s going to perform.”

For the past six weeks, lightweight prospect Lydell Rhodes has been a key figure in the training camp of eight-division world titlist Manny Pacquiao ahead of his April 12 rematch with Tim Bradley.

Rhodes, originally from Oklahoma and now residing in Las Vegas, first made the trek to General Santos City, Philippines for the initial leg of camp before shifting to Los Angeles, where he has been soaking up the atmosphere while also serving as a chief sparring partner to Pacquiao at the Wild Card Boxing Club.

After hitting up famed gym, Rhodes instantly felt at home.
