If there was ever a duo that was sure to get me some positive reaction to the June 20 Adrien Broner vs. Shawn Porter matchup and aftermath, upcoming talents Zach Cooper and J’Leon Love fit the bill.

Porter pulled off perhaps the biggest victory over his career thus far when he handled Broner over the course of 12 rounds. Porter was aggressive and calculated throughout the match and outside of a big knockdown he suffered in the 12th and final round, the Akron native was in control.

As the dust from the fight continues to settle, there has been much discussion about the future of both Porter (26-1-1, 16 KO’s) and Broner (30-2, 22 KO’s).

Catching up with Zach Cooper and J’Leon Love from within the doors of the Mayweather Boxing Club earlier this week, the dynamic duo shared their thoughts.

“Good fight, man,” Love stated. “I guess the better man won. It’s boxing. Two great talents in the game. I know Adrien Broner will be back stronger than ever. Just because you take two losses, doesn’t mean you are out of the game. Manny Pacquiao has five, six losses and is still at the top.”

For Cooper, it was Porter’s mental approach and consistency that carried the day.

“Shawn came with the best game plan,” Cooper stated. “I thought the 144-pound [catch-weight] was going to drain him, so I had Adrien Broner picked to win, but Shawn’s a dog. Shawn made it the ugly, scrappy fight that he did and he showed that he can make any fight interesting, even fights that he is picked to lose.”
