Los Angeles Lakers’ star forward Kobe Bryant made a promise months ago that his team would make the playoffs.

On Wednesday night, April 17, the Lakers defeated the Houston Rockets 99-95 to clinch the seventh playoff spot in the Western conference.

Kobe Bryant later took to his twitter account to announce “Playoff promise fulfilled #ontothenext.”

Of course, Bryant is recovering from surgery following a torn Achilles and will not actively be playing when the Lakers meet the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs.

Lakers star forward/center Pau Gasol has appeared to get his groove back, scoring his second triple-double this month by grabbing 17 points, 20 rebounds, and 11 assists against the Rockets.

Referencing his teammate last night, Bryant asked “Can the talk about trading Pau Gasol cease now?”

As for the Lakers first-round matchup, it appears that the Spurs are a little banged up at the moment.

Point guard Tony Parker has been battling shin, neck, and ankle injuries since last month while shooting guard Manu Ginobli has been out for weeks due to a hamstring injury.

The first Lakers-Spurs game can be seen on Sunday at 12:30 pm PT on ABC.
