If you hit up the gym scene in Las Vegas on a constant basis, you are sure to be around some of the game’s top talent while also discovering your share of breaking news and in-depth stories.

There is a lot going on inside of City Athletic Boxing these days, especially on the heels of trainer Ismael Salas bringing his stable of champions to the facility.

In 18-year old Damien ‘Sugar’ Vasquez, Salas has a budding pupil who has been showing great progress thus far in compiling a 7-0 record with 3 knockouts.

Having won the NABF junior flyweight title in his sixth pro bout, Vasquez is coming off of a successful first defense vs. Edwin Reyes this past March, a bout in which he dominated the action over eight rounds from the Sam’s Town Hotel, ultimately sending his opponent to the hospital.

With Team Vasquez’s progression set to continue, we’ve been advised that Damien is set to sign on with powerful advisor Al Haymon. Haymon’s “Premier Boxing Champions” movement has kept the industry talking and Vasquez will be part of the movement, with a Sep. 22 date in Los Angeles looming.

Stay tuned for a full follow-up from Vasquez’s camp out in Las Vegas.
