It’s well known that rumors in the boxing world spread like wildfire.

The latest bit of intrigue circulating around several forums and various social-networking sites claims that reigning WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner recently had a rough go of it in sparring with talented 2012 Olympian Errol Spence Jr.

Reportedly the incident took place at the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, where Spence, a junior middleweight prospect with a 4-0 (3) record, has been spotted training ahead of his May 3rd showcase at the Cosmopolitan Resort Casino.

The only problem with that rumor is that Broner doesn’t train at the gym when he is in Vegas these days, as he instead has been spotting simply soaking up the atmosphere of the gym the last few times he was in town.

Catching up with Spence recently, he dispelled the notion that he and Broner had gone rounds recently in Vegas.

With his entertaining unanimous decision victory over Austin Trout this past Saturday night, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez is presently the man of the hour.

Dropping his cagey southpaw foe in the seventh round and landing sharp punches throughout, Alvarez came away with a unanimous decision victory over Trout inside of the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas in a Showtime-televised clash that saw his stock rise even further.

And while the scorecards reading 118-109, 116-111, and 115-112 didn’t do justice to highlight just how competitive the match really was, there’s no denying the star appeal that the 22-year old Alvarez has as the boxing world eyes his next move.

Catching up with some boxing insiders after the unification bout, I got two-time Trainer of the Year Robert Garcia’s opinion on Canelo’s performance and what his future holds, including a possible match with Floyd Mayweather down the road.
