Moments ago, inside of the Bramall Lane Football Ground in Sheffield, England, Errol Spence Jr. successfully captured the IBF welterweight title with an impressive 11th-round TKO over former champion and hometown London favorite Kell Brook.

The bout, fought in front of a packed house of rabid supporters, was fought at a tense and tactical pace early on. Brook (36-2, 25 KO’s) was on his way towards building a lead through the first half of the fight and appeared to be the physically stronger fighter, but Spence (22-0, 19 KO’s) was undaunted in his pursuit.

Later this year, WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas will collide with IBF titlist Kell Brook in a can’t-miss matchup overseas.

Vargas (27-1, 10 KO’s) is already in training camp, putting in some technical work with his trainer Dewey Cooper and assistant David Hayes. City Athletic Boxing in West Las Vegas is serving as Vargas’ home gym for the Brook assignment, and the intensity will sure build as the matchup draws near.

WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas has agreed to face IBF titlist Kell Brook later this year, likely over the in UK, in one of the year’s bigger showdowns.

Vargas (27-1, 10 KO’s) is riding a new high in his career following a ninth-round TKO over previously undefeated Sadam Ali this past March and the Brook clash is something he has been seeking.

Photos from the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. as underdog Kell Brook (33-0, 22 KO’s) pulls off a big upset in claiming the IBF welterweight championship from former champ Shawn Porter (24-1-1, 15 KO’s) on Showtime’s airwaves. Porter was aggressive early but Brook settled down and had great success in the second half of the matching, winning by scores of 117-111, 116-112, and 114-114 after 12 rounds.
