On Thursday afternoon, inside of the hybrid Split-T Boxing Gym / One Kick’s Gym in Las Vegas, NV, Team Combat League held open try-outs ahead of the launch of their official sports combat league.

We had spoken with trainer Dewey Cooper about the try-outs last month, and he informed us about a “new professional boxing league starting”, with a concept that was similar to the NFL, NBA, and other team sports.

Speaking recently from within the hybrid Split-T Boxing/One Kick’s Gym, Cooper informed us of a new professional fighter’s league that he will be playing a big part in.

We have been hearing for some months now about the Big Scary Gym in Henderson, NV, largely due to former multi-sport fighter and current day trainer Dewey Cooper.

Cooper was as active as one can be during his fighting days, as he competed in boxing, kickboxing, and mixed martial arts over the years. Some of Cooper’s fighting highlights included winning the WKC heavyweight and WKF cruiserweight titles, and becoming a fixture on the popular K-1 circuit.

Cooper’s transition into being a trainer has seemed to come quite naturally, and he has a lot of spirit and vigor that he brings when guiding his pupils in the gym.

Dewey Cooper definitely knows what it’s like to get ready to face Manny Pacquiao.

Having been around the Las Vegas Fight Scene for some years now, I have seen my fair share of trainers around town. With so many gyms in the city, there are plenty of trainers and each of them has a unique approach to the sport.

In former kickboxing champion and former boxing contender Dewey Cooper, I have come to admire him as one of the most committed and hard-working people in the fight game when it comes to pushing his fighters. Cooper captured the WKC heavyweight and WKF cruiserweight titles as a kickboxer while also compiling a 19-3-3 record with 11 knockouts as a professional boxer.
