The bout aired on ESPN as a part of another “Premier Boxing Champions” telecast.

Malignaggi has stated that he will likely forego fighting about this tough loss but the future continues to look bright for Garcia, as he is one of the biggest names in the welterweight class given his great run at 140 pounds that saw him best the likes of Amir Khan, Lucas Matthysse, and most recently Lamont Peterson in a tough fight.

There was much buzz in the air last night following Amir Khan’s dominant 12-round unanimous decision victory over Devon Alexander.

Facing off on Showtime’s airwaves, Khan was simply too fast, too precise, and too good for his formidable foe from St. Louis. Scorecards reading 120-108, 119-109, and 118-110 were read in the British star’s favor, as he eyes bigger business in 2015.

There will always be some kind of buzz about the possibility of a Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao matchup going down.

Following his dominant victory over Chris Algieri on Nov. 22, Pacquiao has again established himself as the biggest possible threat to Mayweather, who is coming off of a pair of decision victories over Marcos Maidana this year.

06BRONER edges MALIGNAGGI

By Chris Robinson

In a fight that was a little tougher than most expected, Adrien Broner won a split-decision over Paulie Malignaggi inside of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on Saturday night, becoming successful in his bid to become a three-division world champion at the age of 23.

Due to a spirited effort from Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO’s), who never seemed to stop moving and punching in bunches despite his lack of pop, Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) appeared to be deadlocked with the Brooklyn native over the first half of the fight. As the action wore on, Broner’s precise and more powerful punches began to find their mark as he marched towards victory.

Shortly after the dust had settled from Broner’s latest triumph, longtime HBO analyst Larry Merchant, never one to hold back his thoughts, weighed in and admitted he was a bit taken aback by how the clash played out.
