PHOTOS: Terence Crawford Defends WBO Welterweight Title With Sixth Round TKO Over Amir Khan

On Saturday night, April 20, WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford successfully defended his title for a second time with a sixth round TKO over former champion Amir Khan. The fight, which took place on ESPN pay per view from Madison Square Garden in New York, may not have ended how Crawford wanted or expected, but his perfect record and lofty goals are still intact.

Crawford dropped Khan in the first round and had a commanding lead midway through. In frame six, an accidental low blow from Crawford put Khan down, with the British star and his corner electing not to continue, granting the champion with a TKO victory.

We are inching closer to boxing’s next significant showdown, as WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford will face off with former world champion Amir Khan on Saturday night from Madison Square Garden in New York. While Crawford (34-0, 25 KO’s) is understandably a huge favorite heading into the fight, Khan (33-4, 20 KO’s) does have enough experience, speed, and skills to at least make the ESPN pay per view matchup interesting.

During Wednesday’s final press conference, Crawford revealed that this is far from just an ordinary showcase for him.

Lo Greco is training for the Khan match inside of City Boxing in Las Vegas, and he recently discussed the Khan matchup, as well as his thoughts on possibly working with Jessie Vargas ahead of his April 21 bout vs. Adrien Broner, his thoughts on his losses to Shawn Porter and Errol Spence Jr., and much more.

On Saturday night, May 7, WBC middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez stopped a courageous Amir Khan in the sixth round of their HBO pay per view showdown from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Canelo (47-1-1, 33 KO’s) had a little trouble early on adapting to Khan’s style, as the British star and former junior welterweight titlist stuck to moving and boxing  early on. Through four rounds several outlets had Khan ahead of Canelo, who was patiently biding his time.

As soon as it was revealed that WBC middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez would be making the first defense of his title against former junior welterweight titlist Amir Khan, speculation began to run about the size difference between the two men.

Canelo (46-1-1, 32 KO’s) has always been a solid junior middleweight, who has came into the ring well over 170 pounds on certain fight nights, while Khan (31-3, 19 KO’s) is moving up in weight following a three-fight stint in the welterweight ranks.

On Tuesday, May 3, WBC middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and former junior welterweight champion Amir Khan made their grand arrival to Las Vegas ahead of their HBO pay per view clash this Saturday night from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Canelo (46-1-1, 32 KO’s) and Khan (31-3, 19 KO’s) are both exuding extreme confidence ahead of this matchup, although Alvarez is the clear betting favorite to his obvious advantage in size. Canelo is coming off of one of his most complete performances to date, as he defeated Puerto Rico’s Miguel Cotto over 12 rounds this past November.

This past Saturday night, inside of the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Amir Khan overcame a very courageous Chris Algieri over 12 rounds.

Algieri was coming off of a lopsided unanimous decision defeat to Manny Pacquiao in November and he was a heavy underdog. Instead, the sharp-witted New Yorker found a way to prove the odds wrong by putting up a very spirited effort and even catching Khan with some big shots along the way.

Photos from the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York, as former junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KO’s) overcame a spirited effort from former titlist Chris Algieri (20-2, 8 KO’s) over 12 rounds.

Algieri was dropped six times and whitewashed in his previous match, a one-sided loss to Manny Pacquiao this past November, but he showed his worth last night, often catching his British foe with stiff rights and counters throughout the match.

The win cement’s Mayweather’s place as the game’s premier fighter, as well as being the biggest cash cow in the sport.

Khan, a former junior welterweight titlist, was razor sharp vs. Alexander, who seemed confused behind his southpaw stance. It was perhaps Khan’s most complete performance, as the 28-year old showed off great stamina, movement, speed, and precise punching throughout the 12 rounds.
