Looks like always-exciting WBC junior featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz will be returning to the ring in a few weeks’ time out in Las Vegas.

Santa Cruz (28-0-1, 16 KO’s) will be looking for  fourth successful defenses of his title on Jan. 17,  as he will be facing off with Jesus “Estrella” Ruiz (33-5-5, 22 KO’s) on the Showtime-televised “Return To Glory” undercard headlined by WBC heavyweight champion Bermane Stiverne vs. power-punching contender Deontay Wilder at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

There was no shortage of boxing in Las Vegas on Dec. 13, as the MGM Grand and nearby Cosmopolitan both held nationally-televised events featuring some of the top names in the sport.

Amir Khan thoroughly handled Devon Alexander in Las Vegas over 12 rounds on Showtime inside of the MGM Grand while Tim Bradley and Diego Chaves scrapped to a debated draw on HBO’s airwaves across the street. Also scoring victories that evening were such notables as Abner Mares, Keith Thurman, Jose Benavidez Jr., Andy Lee, Victor Ortiz, Errol Spence Jr., and the fighting Charlo brothers from Houston, Tex.

At the 52nd annual WBC Convention from the Mirage in Las Vegas on Monday afternoon, former two-division world champion and British idol Ricky Hatton could be found taking in the ceremonies.

Hatton had a great run as a champion at 140 pounds and has been turning his energy towards promoting in recent times. Wherever he goes, the 36-year old is adored and thronged by fans and always up for some good boxing talk.

Facing off on Showtime’s airwaves, Khan was simply too fast, too precise, and too good for his formidable foe from St. Louis. Scorecards reading 120-108, 119-109, and 118-110 were read in the British star’s favor, as he eyes bigger business in 2015.

This weekend in Las Vegas, amidst the festivities of the Amir Khan vs. Devon Alexander matchup from the MGM Grand, it was officially announced that the highly-anticipated heavyweight title fight between WBC champion Bermae Stiverne and top contender Deontay Wilder will be taking place.

The match will take place on Jan. 17 on Showtime in what figures to be an intriguing showdown between two legitimate power punchers.

Following his dominant 12-round unanimous decision over St. Louis’ Devon Alexander on Saturday night, British star Amir Khan began to eye his future.

Khan, a former junior welterweight titlist, was razor sharp vs. Alexander, who seemed confused behind his southpaw stance. It was perhaps Khan’s most complete performance, as the 28-year old showed off great stamina, movement, speed, and precise punching throughout the 12 rounds.

Moments ago from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, former junior welterweight titlist Amir Khan produced one of his finest performances as a professional with a 12-round master class performance vs. the very tough Alexander.

Scores of 120-108, 119-109, and 118-110 were read in the British star’s favor, as Khan improves to 30-3 with 19 knockouts while Alexander drops to 26-3 with 14 early outs.

Mares is still looked at as one of the game’s top young talents and his spirits seem fully restored following his shocking first round knockout loss to Jhonny Gonzalez in August of last year.
