Tim Duncan has officially retired after 19 NBA seasons

After the 2016 NBA season, this upcoming season will not be the same. Noticeable names will be gone, as well as high profile players who will be on different teams. One noticeable face and name that will be a spectator is power forward Tim Duncan of the San Antonio Spurs.

Since drafting Duncan in 1997, the Spurs posted a 1,072-438 regular-season record, the best 19-year stretch in NBA history, and tops in the four major US sports over the past 19 years.

Video: Miami stuns San Antonio in overtime 103-100; check out the 3-pointer from Ray Allen at the end of regulation

Earlier tonight at the American Airlines Center in South Florida, the defending NBA champion Miami Heat capped off an incredible comeback with a stirring 103-100 victory in overtime over the San Antonio Spurs.

The Heat were down by double-digits in the 4th quarter but their team captain Lebron James helped to rally the team. An incredible 3-pointer by Ray Allen near the end of regulation helped to send the game into overtime. Check out the play above.

Las Vegas odds makers pick Miami Heat to win it all and believe the Lakers won’t make it out of the first round against the Spurs

The odds have been against the Los Angeles Lakers all season and now that they have made the playoffs, doubters remain.

According to a report from the Los Angeles Times on Friday, April 19, Las Vegas odds makers are giving the team a very slim chance of winning the 2013 NBA Playoffs.

It appears that the Lakers only have a 12% chance of even making it out of the first round against the San Antonio Spurs, who they meet this Sunday.

Magic Johnson calls the passing of Jerry Buss a ‘great loss’ for Laker Nation

One of the greatest owners in sports history, Dr. Jerry Buss, has died at the age of 80, according to a report from the New York Times on Monday, Feb. 18. The legendary owner of the Los Angeles Lakers lost his battle with Cancer at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center early this morning.

The Buss family confirmed his death and released a statement.

“We not only have lost our cherished father, but a beloved man of our community and a person respected by the world basketball community,” the statement would read.

“It was our father’s often stated desire and expectation that the Lakers remain in the Buss family. The Lakers have been our lives as well and we will honor his wish and do everything in our power to continue his unparalleled legacy.”

Los Angeles Lakers defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder 105-96, capture second straight win

The Oklahoma City Thunder (34-11) had won nine of their previous 11 meetings with the Los Angeles Lakers before Sunday afternoon’s game inside of Staples Center on Sunday afternoon.

Playing with a better defensive effort and positive energy, the Lakers were competitive throughout today’s contest, pulling away in the fourth quarter for a 105-96 victory.

Led by their leader Kobe Bryant, who chipped in 21 points and 14 assists, the Lakers improved their record to 19-25 as they desperately claw for a playoff spot before the end of the season.
