This past Tuesday, in Los Angeles, the final press conference for the September 14th clash between champions Floyd Mayweather and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez was held.
After a whirlwind tour that saw the two men visit ten cities, Mayweather and Alvarez would engage in final face off in front of thousands of rabid fans at L.A. Live before going their separate ways.
Locking eyes for three tense minutes, neither man wanted to give an inch as the crowd cheered them on.
Days later, inside of the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas, I caught up with Mayweather’s father and trainer Floyd Sr. and showed him a video of his son’s stare down with Alvarez.
Curious for his reaction, I had to wait a minute as Mayweather Sr. smiled while the clip played.

On Saturday afternoon, former three-division world champion Miguel Cotto confirmed what had already been speculated, as the Puerto Rican star announced via his personal Twitter that he will be returning to HBO’s airwaves on October 5th.
Cotto also revealed that he will be working with Top Rank, his original promoter dating back to his pro debut, while trainer Freddie Roach will serve as a new face in his corner.
Definitely some big changes for Cotto, who saw his previous two contests, decision losses to Floyd Mayweather and Austin Trout, be co-promoted by Golden Boy Promotions, with the former being televised by Showtime.

Moments ago, three-division world champion Miguel Cotto (37-4, 30 KO’s) took to his personal Twitter account to inform his followers that he will indeed be making a return to HBO, the network that showcased his talents for several years. Cotto also anncouned that he will be back working with Top Rank, the promoter that led him to stardom, while trainer Freddie Roach will oversee his regimen.
Cotto had worked under savvy Cuban coach Pedro Diaz for the past three fights.
Cotto’s past two fights, decision losses to Floyd Mayweather and Austin Trout in 2012, had been co-promoted by Golden Boy Promotions. No official word on who Cotto will face but it seems likely that he will be squaring off with Chicago’s Carlos Molina (21-5-2, 6 KO’s).
I will be back in the ring on Oct 5th on @hboboxing with @trboxing and @freddieroach in my corner…

Antillon was last seen on the big stage two years ago, as he was stopped in the 3rd round of an electrifying clash with then-WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios in Carson. One fight prior, Antillon engaged in an equally thrilling battle, losing a hotly-contested decision to then-WBC champion Humberto Soto.
Antillon has flown under the radar since those defeats, but it’s worth noting that he did return this past March in Hidalgo, Mexico to stop journeyman Leonardo Resendiz in two rounds.
Antillon is focused on his comeback, but insists he will be looking to make his run at 140 pounds.
