Photos from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nev. as “Premier Boxing Champions” on NBC showcased Cuba’s Rances Barthelemy’s domination of former lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco. by way of Sinaloa, Mexico on Sunday afternoon.

Barthelemy, who held the IBF belt briefly at 130 pounds, served notice to the junior welterweight class with this performance, as he is now compaigning at 140 pounds. In his new division, Barthelemy looks very strong and he was simply too quick and powerful for DeMarco.

On Saturday, June 20, former welterweight titlist Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16 KO’s) produced another strong performance in handling Adrien Broner (30-2, 22 KO’s) over 12 rounds for a unanimous decision victory.

Porter’s sheer will and tenacity appeared to give Broner a lot to think about and Shawn proved himself to be the busier and more focused fighter in the ring. Scores of 118-108, 115-111, and 114-112 were all read in the Akron native’s favor, as he produces his second straight victory following his lone defeat to Kell Brook this past August.

Photos from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada as former three-division world titlist Adrien “The Problem” Broner (30-1, 22 KO’s) faces off with former IBF welterweight champion “Showtime” Shawn Porter (25-1-1, 16 KO’s) ahead of their NBC-televised duel tomorrow night.

There has been some definite chiding and trash talk coming from Broner’s end and once again the Cincinnati native was in jovial spirits as the weigh in. As for Porter, he remained calmed and collected, hitting 144 pounds on the dot while Broner hit the scales at 143.5 pounds.

Four-division world champion Miguel Cotto proved to be too much for Daniel Geale last night, stopping the brave Australian inside of the 4th round of their middleweight title fight last night from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Cotto (40-4, 33 KO’s) now looks to a possible fight later in the year with Mexican superstar Canelo Alvarez, while Geale (31-4, 16 KO’s) will have to go back to the drawing board once again.

Photos from the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, New York, as former junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KO’s) overcame a spirited effort from former titlist Chris Algieri (20-2, 8 KO’s) over 12 rounds.

Algieri was dropped six times and whitewashed in his previous match, a one-sided loss to Manny Pacquiao this past November, but he showed his worth last night, often catching his British foe with stiff rights and counters throughout the match.

Photos from the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. as WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KO’s) pounds out a sixth round TKO over a brave but outgunned Willie Monroe Jr. on HBO’s airwaves.

Golovkin was calculated as always, dropping Monroe twice in the second round. The challenger rose and fought on valiantly, even having a big fourth round that saw him turn the tide and catch Golovkin with several flush shots.

Images from the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif. as former welterweight champion Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KO’s) notches a sixth-round TKO over Josesito Lopez (33-7, 19 KO’s) in the second installment of “Premier Champions Boxing” on Spike TV.

Lopez fought valiantly, as is always the case with the “Riverside Rocky”, but his undoing came in the sixth round. A right hand to the top of the head put him down and a follow-up right signaled knockdown number two, with referee Raul Caiz Jr. opting to halt the action.

On Saturday night, March 7, interim WBA welterweight champion Keith “One Time” Thurman defeated former multi-division world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero over 12 entertaining rounds on the inaugural version of NBC’s “Premier Boxing Champions”.

From the outset of the match, it was apparent that Thurman’s speed and power was going to be a big factor, as he was able to establish an early edge over southpaw foe. Guerrero remained patient and kept pressing forward, but he simply couldn’t get into enough of a groove to establish control.

Light heavyweight contender Andrzej Fonfara (26-3, 15 KO’s) wins a hard-fought decision over  Congo’s Doudou Ngumbu (33-6, 12 KO’s) in the main event of a Showtime tripleheader on Saturday at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, by scores of 98-92, 97-93, 97-93. Fonfara dropped a decision to Adonis Stevenson this past May and will see his name further back in the mix after Saturday night’s victory.
